This past weekend Arizona State took on the visiting Stanford Cardinal in a three game series at Phoenix Municipal stadium, with the devils taking the first game Friday night with a comeback victory of 9-5, it had proven that this weekend would be a fight for conference standing and positioning going into May.
With Stanford being on top of the current Pac-12 standings, it was a huge series for ASU coming into the weekend, although after the Friday night win proved to be huge for ASU, they couldn’t finish the game Saturday night as it was almost a five hour affair, going into extra’s and blowing a 7-0 lead later in the game, where as the Devil’s would lose in 12 innings 11-9 dropping the second game against Stanford.
Sunday featured the final game of a crucial series for both teams, although this time ASU didn’t break out into a huge lead, they stuck around and battled for eight long innings keeping within one run of the game, since the bullpen has been scarce this series, it gave Stanford an opportunity to break the game open, as it did with an seven run 9th inning which featured a grand slam to give Stanford a 13-5 win, and winning the weekend series against Stanford.
